Predictions & stats

Where do I find my prediction – and why does it say “we don't know yet”?

The prediction is a Pro feature and is deliberately located in a submenu of the Stats page. At the start it often still says “we don't know yet” because Trait has only seen a few of your sessions. With a plan that has a fixed target time, the time on race day is your goal itself – there's no range there.

The prediction is a Pro feature. You'll find it on the Stats page in a submenu. The fact that it isn't front and centre on the home screen is intentional: the prediction is a rough estimate that becomes more accurate over time – not a value you should fixate on every day.

What you'll see there

  • Today: What you'd run if the race were right now.
  • On race day: a range between worst case (Light training mode) and best case (All-In training mode).

“We don't know yet”

Right after you start, Trait only knows what you entered during onboarding and maybe two or three sessions. Instead of making up a number, Trait honestly tells you that it doesn't know anything yet. If you've never run further than 10 km, for example, it may also say for a marathon that you wouldn't make it to the finish today. That's not a judgement, just an honest snapshot. With every week of training, the estimate becomes more concrete.

Fixed target time or individual training?

If you chose a plan with a fixed target time during onboarding (e.g. “marathon in 4:00 h”), the result on race day is the goal you set yourself – the plan derives all sessions and paces backwards from it. The range between worst and best case belongs to individual training, where Trait plans based on where you are today and the achievable time remains open.

Why the prediction can also get slower over time is explained under Why is my prediction getting worse?
